A Little History of Golden Fleece Antiques — Established in the 1970's —

Golden Fleece Antiques has been a recognized brand in Del Norte, Colorado for approximately 50 years (since the mid 1970’s). It’s founder... Mark Allison (who had a lot to do with the RGC Museum and keeping the history of Del Norte, Colorado alive over the years) ran the retail shop that was located at... 560 Grand Avenue (together with his late wife Greta Allison). Along with other pursuits, they also owned and operated the fine dining... Stone Quarry Restaurant that was located adjacent at... 580 Grand Avenue.

In the early 2020's, these buildings changed hands ...and are now home to The General Specific Store, Trade and Post and Chavalo's Mexican Restaurant. It was also during this time that Melissa Valdez-Taylor (the founder/owner of the completely independent and new: “Golden Fleece Antiques & Sundries”) ...purchased much of the contents of Mark’s old shop as well as the “Golden Fleece” portion of the original business name to honor the legacy of what Mark & Greta Allison had started.

While Mark & Greta focused on Antiques and consigning pieces of history from local residents... Melissa has a much broader focus with “Golden Fleece Antiques & Sundries” ...of course featuring antiques and historically significant pieces to the area, but also all things vintage, collectible, contemporary, retro, primitive, rustic, industrial, refinished, repurposed and salvaged ...as well as consignments from locals and various other new and lightly used treasures!!!

Introducing: Golden Fleece Antiques & Sundries — Established in 2022 (A New Era) —

Located at... 1290 Grand Avenue in Del Norte (the old hospital on the east side of town) ...a mixed-use retail development that's transforming by the day... “Golden Fleece Antiques & Sundries” ...is an exciting new beginning for Del Norte, Colorado’s locals and visitors. There's something for everyone at this beautiful connection to the past and present... it's a breath of fresh air with notes from yesterday. Meaningful connections are being made at this inspiring retail establishment (connections to what was, what is ...and to what can be).
